Game 1 at Seneca Valley 3-29-07

The JV team lost their first game at Seneca Valley by the score of 13-3 in five innings. The Tigers managed three hits with Aaron Hassett, Zac Mangan, and Mike Masters getting 1 hit apiece. Three Tiger pitchers walked 11 batters in the loss.

Game 2 at West Allegheny 4-3-07

The game ended in a 3-3 tie after five innings due to darkness. Nico Morocco pitched five strong innings striking out five. Alex Knox had 2 hits including a double with Scott Liller, Nico Morocco and Mike Quinn getting a hit apiece. Aaron Hassett walked three times.

GAME 3at Keystone Oaks 4-4-07

The JV team got their first win of the season with a 10-7 win at Keystone Oaks. Nick Montgomery was 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored. Scott Liller, Nico Morocco, Alex Knox and Pat Baer had two hits apiece. Brendan Counihan had a hit and two walks. Mike Quinn walked 3 times and scored 2 runs. David Dombrowski was the winning pitcher.

Game 4 vs Keystone Oaks 4-9-07

Playing their first home game of the season, the JV team improved to 2-1-1 with a 15-3 five inning win over Keystone Oaks. Scott Liller was 3 for 3 with a double. Pat Baer, Nick Montgomery and Dave Homol had two hits apiece. Matt Hogle added a single and two RBI's. Nick Montgomery pitched five innings for the Tigers picking up the win.

Game 5 at Hopewell 4-13-07

The JV team won their 3rd game in a row and ran their record to 3-1-1 with a 18-3 four inning win at Hopewell. The Tigers continue their hot hitting outscoring their opponents 43-13 in the three wins. Pat Baer had 3 hits with 4 runs scored. David Dombrowski had two hits and scored 3 runs. Nico Morocco, Alex Knox and Nick Montgomery also had two hits apiece. Tyler Burgunder picked up the win pitching 4 innings, striking out three.

Game 6 at Montour 4-20-07

On Friday, 4/20, the Moon JV Team traveled to Montour and lost 12-4. The score was tied 4-4 after 5 innings before Montour erupted for 8 runs in the 6th inning. Nick Montgomery had 2 hits while Nico Morocco, Pat Baer, Alex Knox, Scott Liller, Brendon Counihan and Dave Homol each had a hit.

Game 7 vs. Char Valley 4-22-07

On Saturday, 4/22, the Moon JV team fell behind 14-0 after 2 innings. Perseverance, timely hitting and 6 scoreless innings pitched by Alex Knox resulted in a thrilling 15-14 win over Chartiers Valley in 8 innings. Nico Morocco led the way by going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, a homerun and a walk. Aaron Hassett and Dave Dombrowski also had 3 hits each. DJ Williams, Alex Knox, and Scott Liller each had 2 hits apiece. Dave Dombrowski had the game winning hit in the bottom of the 8th. The JV Team’s record after the win over Chartiers Valley is 4-2-1.

Game 8 vs. South Park 4-24-07

The JV team overcame a 9 to 4 deficit by scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th to win 12-10 against South Park. The rally was highlighted by a three run double by Scott Liller and a two run double by Mike Quinn. Nico Morocco went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Scott Liller and Brendon Counihan each had 2 hits apiece. Dave Homol got the win in relief. The JV team’s record improved to 5-2-1 with the win.

Game 2 (continuation of suspended game) vs. West Allegheny 5-5-07

The suspended West A game after five innings, and being tied, 3-3, was resumed at West A on 5/5. West A pulled out an 8-7 win in eight innings.

Game 9 at West Allegheny 5-5-07

Also played on 5/5, West A managed another win, 12-6. Nico Morocco and Brendan Counihan each had two hits, Dave Homol, Pat Baer and Aaron Hassett had one hit apiece.

Game 10 at Hopewell 5-6-07

At Hopewell, Moon scored eight runs in the first two innings and held on for an 8-7 win. Scott Liller and Pat Baer each had two hits. Dave Homol, Alex Knox, Brendan Counihan, Nick Montgomery, Mike Masters and Matt Hogle had one hit apiece. Joe Geronimo got the win.

Game 11 at South Park 5-7-07

The JVs improved to 7-5 by scoring seven runs in the 1st inning-cruising to a 13-9 win at South Park. Pat Baer was 2 for 3 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Alex Knox and Nick Montgomery had two hits apiece. Mike Masters, Dave Dombrowski and Brendan Counihan each had a hit. Nico Morocco got the pitching win.

The 2007 MOON AREA Ninth Grade Team Corner

Game 1 at Ellwood City (3-29-07)

On Thursday night, the Moon Area Tigers Ninth Grade team defeated Ellwood City, 12-0, in six innings. Brad Schnelle pitched, and threw a no hitter. He faced the minimum number of hitters, striking out 10, walking one, (promtly picking that runner off), and had errorless defensive support. The Tigers banged out 14 hits, including 7 that went for extra bases, highlighted by Chris Crayton who went 2 for 4 with an RBI double and a two run home run. 6 players had multiple hits, and we stole 7 bases. The Ninth Grade team is coached by first year Head Coach Mike Marasco.

Game 2 at West Allegheny GRAY(4-3-07)

On Tuesday, the Ninth Grade team improved to 2-0 with a 12-0 win at West Allegheny (Gray), in five innings. Brian Flannery tossed a 1 hit shutout, including 7 strikeouts. The Tigers banged out 14 hits for the second game in a row led by Corey Chamberlain (3 for 4), Jimmy Hill (3 for 4), Mike Jeffreys (2 for 2), and Brandon Smitsky (2 for 2). The club also played their second consecutive errorless game

Game 3 at New Castle (4-10-07)

The Tigers continued their strong start with a 6-1 win over New Castle, running their record to 3 and 0. This outing was won with good pitching and defense. The club had its third errorless game in a row, including the club's first outfield assist, as Alex Megrey gunned down a runner trying to score from second on a base hit. Brad Schnelle pushed his record to 2 and 0 throwing 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 3 hits, with 8 strikeouts. The offense was paced by Jimmy Hill (3 for 4) and Mike Jeffreys (2 for 3). The Tigers face Hopewell in a makeup game tomorrow at Moon.

Game 4 at Center (4-21-07)

The Tigers pushed their record to 4 and 0 with a 5 - 0 victory over Center. Brian Flannery (6 innings, and 7 K's) and Corey Chamberlain combined to throw a 3 hit shutout. The offense was lead by Chamberlain, Jimmy Hill, Dominic DeAngelis, and Brandon Buck, who each had two hits. Chris Crayton came up with the big hit of the game, hitting a two run triple to get the scoring started.

Game 5 at Pine Richland (4-22-07)

The Tigers dropped their first game on Friday April 20, at Pine Park. Moon was ahead 4 - 3 going into the 6th, but was unable to hold the lead. Brad Schnelle threw 5 and 1/3 strong innings, giving up 4 runs but only 2 earned. The Tigers attack was lead by Mike Jeffreys (3 for 4), Brandon Buck (2 for 3 and an RBI), and Brian Flannery (Double and an RBI). The Tigers played well against a tough opponent. The bounces just didn't go their way, in a game that wasn't decided until the final play in the bottom of the 7th. The good news, is that they get another crack at Pine Richland in a few weeks...

Game 6 at Montour (4-24-07)

Moon got back on track with a 13 - 2 triumph against Montour in five innings, at beautiful Burkett Field. Brian Flannery garnered his 3rd win of the year, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, with 7 K's. The offence came back to life hammering out 15 hits, lead by Corey Chamberlain (2 for 4), Jimmy Hill (2 for 3), Brad Schnelle (2 for 3 and 3 RBI's), Brandon Buck (2 for 3), Chris Crayton (2 for 3), and Alex Megrey (2 for 3). Moon improves to 5-1.

Game 7 vs. West Allegheny GRAY(4-30-07)

On Monday, the Tigers picked up another win, pushing their record to 6 and 1. Moon won the contest 10 - 0 in six innings. Zach Korzi picked up his first victory, throwing a complete game, 1 hit shutout, striking out 6. The Tigers again played errorless ball, highlighted by a running grab by Nathan Gloekl in right field. The offense was paced by Corey Chamberlain (2 for 3), Dominic DeAngelis (2 for 4, 3 RBI's), and Alex Megrey (1 for 3, 2 RBI's). Nine different players contributed to the team's 11 hits.

Game 8 vs. Ellwood City (5-1-07)

On Tuesday, the Tigers picked up their second win of the week with an 8 - 0 victory over Ellwood City, raising their record to 7 and 1. Brian Flannery and Chris Crayton combined for the club's second consecutive 1 hit shutout with Flannery picking up his fourth win. The two combined for an impressive 18 strikeouts, (Flannery 13, Crayton 5). The offense banged out 13 more hits, lead by Dominic DeAngelis who went 3 for 4 highlighted by a 3 run homer in the bottom of the first. Brad Schnelle also went 3 for 4, and Derrick Rizzo went 2 for 4. The club continues their busy week with games on Thursday and Saturday.

Game 9 vs. New Castle (5-3-07)

The Moon Baseball Club got the bats going in a 15-4 onslaught against New Castle. The offense carried the day with a season high 20 hits from 10 different players. Dominic DeAngelis lead the club going 4 for 5 with 2 RBI's, while Mike Jeffreys (3 for 5 2RBI's), Jimmy Hill (3 for 5 with 2 doubles), Chris Crayton (2 for 3, HR and 2 RBI's), Alex Megrey (2 for 4, 2b & 3b), and Brian Flannery (2 for 2, 2 RBI's). The defense was solid again in less than ideal conditions, highlighted by two diving/sliding catches made by Brandon Buck and Alex Megrey, and Brad Schenelle picked up his 3rd win throwing 6 solid innings. The team finishes up a long week at Hopewell on Saturday.

Game 10 at Hopewell (5-5-07)

The Moon Baseball Club finished off a great week with a win over Hopewell on Saturday. Moon finished off Hopewell by a score of 14-1, in five innings. Zach Korzi picked up his second win of the week, giving up only 1 run on two hits over five strong innings. The offense picked up right where it left off scoring 14 runs on 11 hits, lead by Brandon Buck (2 for 4), Mike Jeffreys (2 for 3), Dominic DeAngelis (2 for 4, 5 RBI's), and Brad Schnelle (3 for 4). The defense played another solid game, as the team pushed it's record to 9-1.

Game 11 vs. Pine Richland (5-8-07)

The Tigers avenged their only loss with a tightly contested 2 - 0 victory over Pine Richland on Tuesday. The pitching duel was established early, and the only runs of the game were not scored until the bottom of the sixth. Brian Flannery threw another gem, giving up just 3 hits to go along with his 11 strikeouts, to earn his 5th victory and his second complete game shutout. Offense was scarce, but Chris Crayton (1 for 3) got the pivotal sixth inning started with a triple, and Alex Megrey (1 for 3) promptly drove him in with an RBI single. After stealing second, Megrey was able to score on Pine Richland's only error of the game. Moon's other hits were from Mike Jeffreys (1 for 3), Brad Schnelle (1 for 3), Jimmy Hill (1 for 2), and Brian Flannery (1 for 2, 2b). The club gets back in action Thursday at West Allegheny (Red). Moon is now, 10-1 !!!!

Game 12 at West Allegheny RED (5-10-07)

The Tigers found little resistence in route to a 17-0 victory over West Allegheny (Red) on Thursday, in just three innings. Zach Korzi pitched 3 scoreless, hitless innings to push his record to 3 and 0. The outburst was lead by Corey Chamberlain (3 for 3, 2 RBI's), Mike Jeffreys (2 for 3, 2 RBI's), and Jimmy Hill (3 for 3, 5 RBI's). The club took advantage of 8 walks, and 6 errors to put their opponent away. The Tigers finish up their week at Blackhawk on Friday.

Game 13 at Blackhawk (5-11-07)

The Tigers pushed their record to 12-1 with a 9-7 victory at Blackhawk on Friday. Brad Schnelle tossed 6 and 2/3 tough innings giving up 7 runs, but only 5 earned, to pick up his 5th win. Brian Flannery picked up his first save, striking out the only batter he faced to end the game. The club got out to a big early lead, with Alex Megrey (2 for 4, 3 RBI's), Dominic DeAngelis (2 for 4), and Brandon Buck (3 for 4, 2 RBI's) leading the way. The Tigers let Blackhawk climb back into the game with some sloppy play, but were able to hold on for the win.

Game 14 at Chartiers Valley (5-14-07)

The Tigers came out flat against Chartiers Valley, and lost their second game of the year, 9-2. Brian Flannery gave up 2 earned runs in 4 and 2/3 innings striking out 7. The offense went cold, with only 6 hits, and the defense struggled through 4 errors and 5 unearned runs. Corey Chamberlain, Mike Jeffreys, Brad Schnelle, Alex Megrey, Brian Flannery, and Dominic DeAngelis each had hits for the Tigers, and Brandon Smitsky drove in one of the club's two runs with sacrifice fly. The team is now 12-2 and looking to bounce back on Wednesday against Hopewell.
