The Boyertown Bears needed both games on Monday to win the Mid-Atlantic National Regional and advance to Bartlesville, Oklahoma for the 2007 American Legion Baseball World Series which starts this Friday. In the first game at West Lawn, PA on Monday, Morgantown kept their hopes alive as they edged the Bears, 2-1 in 13 innings. Morgantown had the early 1-0 lead in the fifth inning. Boyertown tied it in the seventh. Michael Martin got the win in relief, throwing the final two innings. The Bear's Alex Neiman took the loss. He pitched the last inning in relief of Shayne Houck who pitched 12 innings.

In the nitecap, it was all Boyertown. Garret Crable went all nine innings and the Bears used six hits to score five runs in the second inning and never looked back as they beat Morgantown. Steven Bealer had three hits and Cody Culp added two. Boyertown will now play the Mid-South Regional Champion, Bryant, AR, who was a 6-2 winner over League City, TX on Monday evening. The Pottstown (PA) Mercury : Story on the Boyertown Bears in the Mid-Atlantic National Regional at West Lawn, PA (8-20-07)

-------------------------------------------

In the Great Lakes National regional in MENOMINEE, MICHIGAN, NorChester's great season came to an end as they lost to Apple Valley, MN in the first game on Monday night, 2-1. Trailing 2-0, heading into the ninth inning, NorChester's Rodney Francis singled and with one out, stole second. DH Steve Lerch then doubled into the gap in left center field to score Francis. However, a pop-up to short and a fly ball to right field would end the comeback. Matt Murray started the game for NorChester, went seven innings and took the loss. Rockport, IN won the Regional later in the evening, 7-2 over Apple Valley.

The Boyertown Bears won the 2007 Pennsylvania State American Legion Baseball Championship on Saturday. Mother Nature spent her day creating havoc and misery throughout the state. That included Spring City and American Legion baseball officials trying to get the PA State ALB Championship tournament in. Rain plagued the tournament all day, and they were lucky to get the first (and only) game of the day in. NorChester outlasted Red Land and the dampness, 18-12 in 12 innings on Thursday.

The second game of the tournament, host Spring City and Plymouth, did get started but then another downpour ended that in the first. The game will be resumed this morning at 9:00 AM. The Boyertown/State College game will immediately follow. This is, of course, if the field and Mother Nature co-operate. At 2:30 AM, here in Brookhaven (less than 50 minutes south of Royersford), it was pouring.

I will continue to provide you with updates as best as I can.

The Sentinel Online (PA) : Story on the Red Land/NorChester game (8-10-07)

It was two and out for West Allegheny in the PA State ALB Tournament in Spring City on Tuesday morning. Plymouth defeated West Allegheny, 9-6. The loss sent WA home after a great run in the Allegheny County and Region 6 playoffs. My personal congratulations to WA Manager, Matt Kropf and his players on a tremendous season.

This afternoon, Red Land eliminated Region Champion, Millcreek, 11-10. In a game that started two hours late, Boyertown went out to an early 6-0 lead, but had to hold on to a 10-7 win over Region 3 Champ, NorChester. In the late, late game, State College, stayed in the winner's bracket with a 6-3 win over host team, Spring City.

Good morning !!!! The main core of West Allegheny High School's WPIAL Class AAA Championship team was intact on Wednesday afternoon when they defeated Plum, 9-8, to win the 2007 Pennsylvania Region 6 American Legion Baseball Championship at CCAC Boyce Campus Field. It was the second time the two teams met in this tourney and pretty much the same result. Another very tight and high scoring game was the case.

West Allegheny had the edge having only to wait and see who their opponent would be. That was decided earlier in the day as Plum pummeled Blackhawk, 13-3. Plum had only a 1/2 hour to recover and play WA. Here is an article on the West Allegheny win over Plum written by Bill Utterback of the Allegheny/Beaver County Times.

Beaver County Times : Story on West A's winning the Region 6 title (8-3-07)>

My congratulations to West Allegheny and their manager, Matt Kropf on winning the title. Good luck to them in Spring City, PA at the PA. State ALB Championship tournament that starts Tuesday August 7th. WA will play the Region 3 Champion, Norchester. The Region 3 Championship was played on Thursday and Norchester won both games against Broomall/Newton, 14-4 and 12-1. Hopefully, I might get up that way to see them next week.

I would also like again to congratulate all the teams, their players and coaches, that made it to the County and Region playoffs. Stay tuned to this site for scores from Spring City.

At this time I would also like to thank a dear friend and a great gentleman, Bob Hester, the Region 6 Director for all his support and supplying me with scores and schedules. Bob has been the director now for well over twenty years. He is talking of retirement, I, for one, would hate to see him leave. He has meant so much to American Legion baseball in our area. Thank you, Bob !!! God Bless and watch over you !!!!

The Beaver County League Best-Of-Five Championship Series, Blackhawk ties the series back up at 2-2 with a 9-1 win over BF. Vince Lloyd, perhaps because of recurring back problems has been very disappointing. He pitched tonight and gave up 3 runs in the 1st inning putting BF in an instant hole. BF made it 3-1, but Lloyd collapsed in the 7th and Evan Chiappetta was brought in to mop up. McGowin pitched for Blackhawk and again only gave up a couple of hits but walked a few and hit 3 or 4 batters. The series finale set for Tuesday at 5:30 PM at Chippewa Park Field.

I have been informed by Bob Hester that last night's game between Lincoln Place and Baldwin was actually won by Lincoln Place, 2-1 in 10 innings. Earlier today, it was reported the game was tied after 10 innings. Sorry for the mis-information. I was also just informed that all of Thursday scheduled games (including the suspended game) have been moved to Friday. The postponement is due to the rain that the area is recieving.

In the AC Playoffs on Wednesday night, Plum, the overall No. 1 seed in the tournament, got past Robinson Twp., 3-1. The No.2 seed overall, West Allegheny, defeated West Mifflin, 7-4. Lincoln Place defeated Baldwin in 10 innings, 2-1. The other opening night game ended in extra inning tie, Bethel Park and Shaler went 11 innings tied at 3-3 before darkness ended it. The games will be picked up this afternoon before the Friday night schedule. I will be in close contact with Region 6 Director Bob Hester during these games. As well as my own source, Moon Twp. ALB Manager Dom Santeufemio.

In Beaver County, from last night (Wednesday), Blackhawk took a 1-0 lead in the best of five Beaver County Championship series. Blackhawk got past Beaver Falls, 7-5. Game two of this series resumes today (Thurssday) at Beaver Falls at 5:30 PM.

In Fayette County, Uniontown took a one game to none lead over Charleroi on Tuesday night, with a 15-3 win. The game was stopped on the 12 run rule. The best of five Fayette County Championship series took off on Wednesday night and resumes at 5:30 PM tonight (Thursday) at Charleroi's Veteran's Field.

Hello everyone ! Sorry for the reconstruction phase of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Region 6 Homepage. I talked to PA State Region 6 Director Bob Hester on Wednesday afternoon. He will be sending me all the master schedules for the four county and all Region 6 teams which I will post as .PDF files for everyone to read. I'm sorry for the lateness, I actually didn't think anybody was reading this site and was about to mothball it.

The other reason for this I have been trying to get my Moon Twp. American Legion page back up and running. We had a crisis in Moon recently, where the newly hired manager decided to "dump" the team on the eve of the season. The Moon Twp. Little League Baseball Board had to scramble and find a replacement in the the 23rd hour. Thank the Good Lord they were able to pull former Moon Twp. ALB Manager (and current Moon Area H.S. Varsity Baseball Head Coach) Dom Santeufemio out of retirement.

I hope to have this site up and running in the next month. So please bear with me. As you may have noticed all the scores from the last two seasons are no longer on this page. I have archived them and they are available at the links listed on the lower part of this page for your reading pleasure.
